Mauro Llanas
Mauro Llanas (b. 2000, Monclova, Mexico) is a figurative painter based in Barcelona.
His work focuses on contemporary portraiture, exploring psychological depth, symbolic narratives and a refined technical approach rooted in classical training.
He studied at the Universidad de Artes Plásticas Prof. Rubén Herrera in Saltillo and later completed the full program at the Barcelona Academy of Art in half of the usual time. His formation includes academic programs, private study, and intensive workshops.
Llanas has been selected twice for the Bienal de Pintura Figurativas at the MEAM (2023 and 2025), won first place at the Bienal Nacional de Autorretrato Prof. Rubén Herrera (Mexico, 2023), and received an Honourable Mention at the Almenara Art Prize (2024).
His work has been exhibited in solo shows in Mexico and in group exhibitions in Germany, Barcelona, and Mexico.
His paintings are held in private collections across Europe and America, as well as institutional and religious collections, including the Order of the Minims in Rome and the Asilo de Ancianos in Saltillo.
Llanas currently works from his studio in Barcelona.
