Ayşe Kapusuz

Ayşe Kapusuz is a Turkish figurative painter and street artist, and a graduate of the Painting Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Working across painting, drawing and oil pastel, her practice explores identity, perception and the layers shaped by social expectations and external labels.

Her figurative works often focus on quiet, inward-looking moments, using colour, texture and gesture to move between recognition and abstraction. Her recent portraits of figures with closed eyes explore the relationship between looking and truly seeing, reflecting on both personal introspection and our growing distance from the world around us.

Alongside her studio practice, Kapusuz creates spontaneous interventions on urban surfaces, responding to cracks, marks and textures with intuitive drawings. Across these different forms of work, she is interested in what we notice, what we overlook, and in finding different ways of seeing without being limited to a single style or medium.
