How to Make a Wire Bail.

These bails work better for me than the sterling head pins.  The head pins often are not strong enough.

This is not my idea.  Ray Ansin submitted this tip to Bead & Button Magazine in the Oct. 2003 issue.  I have been using it for years and always get asked how to do it.  So here it is.  Thank you Ray!

 

 This is half round wire about 3 1/2 inches long.  I use any type wire to make this bail but half round works best for me.

Use your round pliers to make a loop like this.

Then bend the wire back to form your loop.

Add some beads.

Add more beads.

Bend the wire out to a 90 degree angle.

Use your round nose pliers to make two loops like this.
